Dessert Practice: Releasing Control — A Guided Surrender Meditation
Jan 05, 2026
Control often feels like safety—but more often, it’s tension. This dessert practice invites you to explore a different experience: being supported without needing to hold everything together.
In this guided meditation, Alyssia gently leads you through a somatic practice of releasing control through breath awareness, grounding, and compassionate attention to the body. Rather than forcing relaxation or “letting go” as a concept, you’re invited to feel what surrender is like in real time—meeting any resistance with kindness instead of pressure.
The meditation begins with noticing the breath as something that happens naturally, without effort, reminding you that life is already supporting you. From there, you’ll soften areas of tension, acknowledge the parts of you that feel responsible for holding things together, and practice letting the ground, gravity, and presence do some of that work instead.
This practice pairs with Episode 30: “What Surrender Really Means — And Why It Sets You Free”, offering a direct, embodied way to experience surrender as safety, not weakness.
🧘 In this guided meditation, you’ll:
- Practice observing the breath without controlling it
- Notice and soften physical tension
- Acknowledge protective parts with compassion
- Explore what it feels like to be supported
- Gently repeat phrases that reinforce trust and safety
- Rest in presence without effort or performance
This is not a meditation you need to “do right.” Your willingness to show up is enough.
💭 Reflection to try:
After the practice, notice how your body feels when you stop holding everything together. What becomes possible when you soften instead of grip?
