Episode 8: Why Real Change Isn’t Sticking: The Neuroscience of Embodiment - Entreé

entrees Sep 24, 2025

Most of us secretly believe we need to learn more to change—one more concept, one more hack. But as Alyssia shares in this week’s entrée, there’s no transformation in information—real, durable change happens through embodiment: directly experiencing life in your body, in real time. You’ll explore why the body is always anchored in the present, how thoughts + emotions register as sensations, and why noticing those signals is the access point to freedom. We connect the dots to your BE → DO → HAVE sequence (your state of being drives action, which creates outcomes) and show how choosing a way of being—then feeling it in your body—can flip well-worn patterns.

What you’ll learn:

  • What embodiment actually is (simple, not mystical)—and why it sticks when information doesn’t.
  • How interoception strengthens self-awareness (and how the insula + somatosensory cortex relate).
  • Why choosing a way of being (curious, kind, open) changes what you do and what you have
  • A short, guided “mistake + self-talk” exercise to feel the difference in your body.
  • Practical, everyday embodiment reps (body scan, posture shifts, movement, journaling, “to-BE list”).

Try it today: pick a task you don’t love (email, dishes, commute). Choose a way of being you want to embody (patient, playful, open), feel it in your body for 15 seconds, then do the task—notice what shifts.
